The city of Istanbul consists of a European and Asian side. Impressive was the visit to the Blue Mosque and Hagia Sophia, an old cathedral that has been converted into a mosque and is now a museum.
Food
Popular foods in Turkey are pide, a type of pizza in a long loaf, doner kebab and Turkish coffee.
Planning
- I traveled Turkey on a backpacking trip through several countries in Eastern Europe. I went by bus from Plovdiv (Bulgaria) to Istanbul. After exploring the city, I took a plane to Germany.
